The National School of Public Policy hosted an illuminating seminar on the National Finance Commission Awards on November 27, 2024 as part of a regular feature of our National Management Course. This unique exercise brought together six participants from various provinces, who compellingly presented the NFC stances of regions different from their own. The seminar offered a critical platform to foster inter-provincial understanding of fiscal federalism, showcasing diverse perspectives on complex issues like revenue distribution, fiscal challenges, and equity.
Moderated by former PAS officer, Mr. Abdul Wajid Rana, a distinguished bureaucrat with extensive experience in high-profile assignments, the seminar delved into pressing fiscal matters under the 7th and upcoming 10th NFC Awards. The guest speaker engaged the presenters with probing questions and concluded the session with a comprehensive analysis, underscoring the importance of evidence-based policymaking for sustainable fiscal harmony in Pakistan. The participants, representing various federal and provincial services, highlighted regional challenges such as population disparities, resource distribution, and fiscal autonomy.
This interactive seminar underscored NSPP’s commitment to nurturing informed discourse and policy innovation. It provided valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners striving to balance regional equity with national development.
