Seminar on National Finance Award 27 March 2025

National School of Public Policy hosted a seminar on the National Finance Commission Award as part of the 122nd National Management Course. The session aimed to promote a deeper understanding of fiscal federalism, resource distribution, and intergovernmental financial relations in Pakistan. In the first segment, six participants delivered presentations on the provincial stance regarding the NFC Award, with each participant assigned a province other than their home province. These presentations provided a comparative perspective on fiscal issues and the challenges of resource allocation.

Following the presentations, Mr. Abdul Wajid Rana, an eminent expert in public finance and governance, engaged the participants in an interactive discussion. He posed insightful questions, encouraging critical thinking and policy analysis. The session concluded with Mr. Wajid Rana’s comprehensive presentation, covering the evolution of fiscal federalism, key challenges in implementing the NFC Award, and policy recommendations for strengthening Pakistan’s fiscal framework. His extensive experience as a former Federal Secretary for Finance and Economic Affairs, along with his role in international financial institutions, brought invaluable insights to the discussion. The seminar successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of Pakistan’s fiscal policies and intergovernmental financial management.
