On December 5, 2024, NSPP had the honor of hosting Mr Saquib H Shirazi, for a thought-provoking lecture on “Industrialization and Trade: Domestic and External Perspectives”. The discourse provided an in-depth examination of Pakistan’s economic landscape, informed by critical data from the State Bank of Pakistan and the Ministry of Finance.
The lecture meticulously addressed the complexities of Pakistan’s fiscal and trade dynamics, highlighting pivotal issues such as trade imbalances, sectoral contributions to GDP, and labor force distributions. Mr Shirazi also articulated the interplay between domestic challenges and global economic trends, including protectionism, geopolitical realignments, and the need for sustainable fiscal practices. The insights offered were especially pertinent in the context of Pakistan’s evolving economic priorities and investment climate.
Following the lecture, an engaging question-and-answer session allowed participants to explore key themes in greater detail. Topics ranged from fiscal reforms and industry competitiveness to long-term strategies for economic resilience. The Rector concluded the event by extending heartfelt thanks to the speaker for his scholarly contribution, underscoring the importance of such intellectual exchanges in fostering informed discourse on national economic challenges and opportunities.
