Public Financial Management (PFM-VIII) Training Course on 22–23 July 2026

The Executive Development Institute (EDI), National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Lahore, successfully conducted a two-day Public Financial Management (PFM-VIII) Training Course on 22–23 July 2026, bringing together senior officers, policymakers, private-sector executives and academics from across Pakistan.

Key participating organizations included the Senate of Pakistan, General Headquarters (GHQ), Ministry of Defence Production, Ministry of Science & Technology, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), Airport Security Force (ASF), SNGPL, PPRA, LESCO, FPCCI, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Punjab Mineral Development Corporation, C&W Department Punjab, NUTECH, Government of Sindh and Balochistan Finance Department, National Tariff Commission, Pakistan Engineering Council, WWF-Pakistan, Asian Development Bank and Pak Brunei Investment Company, among others.

The course featured distinguished guest speakers and subject experts, including Mr. Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Rector NSPP; Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Economist and former Advisor to the Prime Minister & Governor SBP; Mr. Sibtain Fazal Halim, former Managing Director Punjab Mass Transit Authority; Dr. Shujat Ali, former Federal Secretary; Dr. Arshad Hasan, Associate Professor/CFO, Lahore School of Economics;
Mr. Salah-ud-Din, Director PAC College; Ms. Namana Gulrukh Fareed, Accountant General of Punjab; and Dr. Rizwan Basharat, Collector of Customs (Appraisement).

The sessions focused on Pakistan’s public finance architecture, PFM reforms, procurement and PPPs, fiscal federalism and NFC, tax compliance, budgeting, accounting, auditing, financial reporting, fiscal transparency and the transformative role of AI in public finances.

The programme concluded with remarks by Rector NSPP Mr. Farhan Aziz Khawaja and Dean EDI Dr. Naveed Elahi, who emphasized the importance of fiscal transparency, accountability and effective financial governance for national development. Certificates were also awarded to the participants.
