A lecture discussion was held on 16th April 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, on the topic of Human Organ Transplantation by Dr. Mohammad Shehzad Anwar, Professor of Urology at SIMS Services Hospital, Lahore. It was a highly insightful lecture on this important topic. The scope of the lecture was as follows:
- Legal Framework which regulates organ donation and transplantation in Pakistan, and the role of the Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA).
- Types of organ transplant performed in Pakistan and the distinction between living donors and deceased donors.
- Ethical issues including organ trafficking, consent, exploitation of the poor, and the importance of transparency and fairness in the transplant system.
